About the Editor

Consumer Bankruptcy Abstracts & Research, an electronic newsletter that began publication in 2007 as BAPCPA Abstracts and then Bankruptcy Abstracts, provides detailed coverage of the newest decisions in Chapter 7 and 13 consumer bankruptcy cases. Each opinion is carefully abstracted, and the abstract is then classified to one or more of the 60 topics within the newsletter's outline.

CBAR is published monthly and discusses both published and unpublished opinions, including those not available in commercial databases. Each issue generally abstracts between 50 and 100 cases. A link accompanying each abstract allows downloading of the full text of the opinion as released by the court. CBAR also keeps subscribers apprised as to the status of pending Supreme Court appeals and proposed changes to the Bankruptcy Rules and Official Forms.

Subscribers to CBAR also receive access to several invaluable online resources:

  • Over 6000 pages of consumer bankruptcy case abstracts, consisting of all the case abstracts from all prior issues of the newsletter, arranged by topic (currently being updated)
  • Collections of all prior case abstracts by circuit (currently being updated)
  • All back issues of the newsletter
  • A frequently-updated collection of pending consumer bankruptcy appeals

CBAR was at NACBA 2009.

Consumer Bankruptcy Abstracts & Research is published, in electronic form only, by Robin Miller LLC of Haddonfield, New Jersey. Each issue of CBAR is e-mailed directly to subscribers in PDF format.
