About the Editor

Consumer Bankruptcy Abstracts & Research, an electronic newsletter, provides comprehensive coverage of the newest decisions in Chapter 7 and 13 consumer bankruptcy cases. Each opinion is carefully abstracted, and the abstract is then classified to one or more of the 75 topics within the newsletter's outline.

CBAR (formerly known as Bankruptcy Abstracts) is published twice monthly, on the 15th and the 30th; each issue abstracts recent consumer bankruptcy cases from across the country. Because the editor (25-year California Bar member Robin Miller) retrieves opinions directly from each court’s website, the newsletter discusses both published and unpublished opinions, including many not available on commercial databases.

Subscribers to CBAR also receive access to several invaluable online resources:

  • Over 4200 pages of consumer bankruptcy case abstracts, consisting of a collection of abstracts for each of the 75 topics in the newsletter's outline.
  • All back issues of the newsletter.
  • The full text of the opinions abstracted in each issue.
  • An extensive collection of pending consumer bankruptcy appeals.

CBAR was at NACBA 2009.

Consumer Bankruptcy Abstracts & Research is published, in electronic form only, by Robin Miller LLC of Birmingham, Alabama. Each issue of CBAR is e-mailed directly to subscribers in PDF format. Word 2003 format is also available.
